Happy New Year Everyone,

Vietnamese American Round Table is organizing a Vietnamese American Leader’s Community Mixer on February 27, 2013

Vietnamese American Round Table is a new community group of multigenerational Vietnamese Americans leaders invested in and looking to serve the various needs of the Vietnamese community here in Santa Clara Valley.

The mixer is for two main groups and for two main reasons:

Groups

1.       Current Community Leaders – we hope to bring together both the older generation and younger generation of Vietnamese American leaders who have been working tirelessly for the Vietnamese community over the years. Whether you have helped organize a large-scale Vietnamese Tet Festival or work for a non-profit organization serving Vietnamese Americans or mentored at-risk Vietnamese youth, your knowledge and experience is welcomed.

2.       Emerging Community Leaders – we hope to bring together a diverse group of young community leaders in non-profit, government, organized labor, business, academia etc. that are passionate about serving the Vietnamese community. A truly diverse leadership is needed to serve the various needs of Vietnamese community.

Goals

1.       Networking/Get To Know – it is important that we get to know the various current and up and coming community leaders that are working hard to serve the Vietnamese community. In order to serve this large population, we as individuals need to come together as a community to learn, share, and support each other in our endeavors. You have seen the names, now get to know the person.

2.       Organizing for the Future – the Vietnamese community in Santa Clara County has grown tremendously in the last few decades from 11,717 in 1980 to 134,525 in 2010. Working together we can help organize the Vietnamese community around various issues ranging from education to political representation, from domestic violence to mental health, from economic disparities to workplace conditions.

If you are receiving this invitation, we as representatives of the Vietnamese American Round Table believe that you are already a tremendous community leader. We hope that you can join us at the Vietnamese American Leader’s Community Mixer and become an even more active and engaged leader for the Vietnamese community. Come out on Wednesday, February 27th to find out more!
